It’s Not Because He’s Black

Remember the kid who was funny in fifth grade?  His antics were obnoxious and his jokes were inaudible.  Imagine that fifth grader in his thirties with the comedic maturity of a 10 year old.  Somehow that idiot ended up on Saturday Night Live.  His name is Kenan Thompson and he is the world’s worst comedian.

Kenan Thompson is a comedian who stars on Saturday Night Live.  You may remember him from the Nickelodeon’s “All That” or “Kenan & Kel”.  Thompson also starred in movies such as “Good Burger” and “Fat Albert”.  According to Wikipedia, Kenan’s act consists of situational and character comedy.  In reality, Kenan says something idiotic in a similar voice for every character, making his routine a gimmick rather than a genre of comedy.   

Here is a link to a Saturday Night Live skit.  Kenan plays the role of Oscar Rogers, a financial adviser with the answer to our economic crisis.  Observe how Oscar becomes more absurd with each question.  This is very reminiscent of Ricky Mena, the class clown at my elementary school.  I knew Ricky wasn’t funny, but it took maturity to realize that loud, obnoxious noises and forced impersonations are cheap substitutes for comedy.
